Put your money where your (he)art is.

Life Imitates immerses inquisitive collectors in pioneering artist practices with two principles: self-discovery, and ethical acquisitions and patronage.

When partnering with a client, we mutually commit to a mode of curiosity, trust and education. Together, we tease out a written collection and patronage plan based on one’s unique story, set goal parameters and speak regularly.

We have represented collector interests in private commissions by their favourite artists; in selling single owner collections at auction; and in financial negotiations with behemoths such as Pace, Gagosian, and Hauser & Wirth. We believe in empowerment via transparency (and keep only the most tedious bits to ourselves).

Philanthropically, we have paired with individual givers and foundations to fund novel projects from feature length art films to Ivy League university-published research. Though no two partners are identical, we tend to work with discreet and erudite clients who are looking for high-impact “sleeper” projects one wouldn’t find out about online until funding has long closed.

Some clients say the process of learning about oneself-through-art feels therapeutic—while some equate it to an exorcism.

We believe that life improves when it imitates the best of art.
