About Us
Life Imitates pairs with artists, collectors and companies in a bespoke, integrative mode, producing projects and collections that encourage spiritual, intellectual and emotional growth. Over 20+ years, founder Arianna Nourse has grown an inspiring global network of artists, collectors, dealers and curators who are now colleagues and trusted confidants.
A child of two artists, Nourse studied under Benjamin Buchloh at Columbia University by chance and decided not to rebel by going to law school, after all. Nourse began her career at Phillips auction house in New York, where she co-produced myriad auctions and exhibitions over seven years and became the 200 year old company’s first Black female specialist in contemporary art and photography. She maintains deep ties to arts communities in New York and California and is based in London.
Nourse is of Black American and Brooklyn Jewish heritage, and was raised to believe that all people have a right to agency and peace. She sees art as a curative technology, reads speculative fiction, and currently has orange hair.
